Sumedhanand Saraswati, an Indian politician, was born on October 1, 1951, to Bharti Devi and Maya Ram Arya in Baland, Rohtak. Since childhood, he exhibited a religious inclination. In pursuit of Sanskrit studies, he departed from home in 1972, dedicating eight years to teaching. In 1984, he underwent 'Deksha' from Swami Sarvanandji, embracing a celibate life as a 'Sanyasi.'
Saraswati's political journey intertwined with social activism, leading him to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1989. Engaged in movements advocating "Save Cow" (Gauraksha) and "Prohibition of liquor," he actively participated in the J.P. Movement.
He clinched victory from the Sikar Lok Sabha seat in the 2019 general elections for the second consecutive term. Subsequently, he secured the same constituency in the 2019 elections. Currently, he serves as a member of the Consultative Committee in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
In addition to his political endeavours, Saraswati holds prominent positions in various Arya Samaj organisations, including State-level General Secretary and President roles. He also serves as the executive President of Sarvdeshik Arya Pratinidhi Sabha.
His interests extend beyond politics and activism; he is involved in education through various institutions and has a passion for drama, yoga, wrestling, and football.
His primary focus remains on youth education and instilling social and moral values. He spearheaded initiatives for rural de-addiction and advocated for the welfare of cow progeny. Saraswati's multifaceted engagement reflects his commitment to societal betterment and cultural preservation.
