Sellur K. Raju

Sellur K. Raju is a native of Madurai, Tamil Nadu, and a politician who gained fame thanks to his local governance and party leadership activities. He studied at Kamaraj University, earning a B.Sc. degree, and got interested in the AIADMK party, which he later on joined as a candidate for the elections. His first victory was in 2011 when he won the MLA seat for Madurai West, thus beginning a legislative career that lasted for more than a decade.

Raju, while being a legislator, was also the Minister for Co-operation in the Tamil Nadu government and in charge of cooperative societies as well as the statistical departments and welfare for ex-servicemen. His experience as minister helped him to become known in the state and to acquire administrative skills.

Throughout and during his public life, he has made some very strong statements about political issues, e.g., he has slammed coalition politics and said that the AIADMK would be contesting elections on its own in the future, stressing a direct competition with the state’s rival parties.

He is one of the architects of the party's strategy for the next Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled for 2026. Noisy through the prairies, he uses regional development as a campaigning point while attacking the DMK government in terms of water management and civic infrastructure policy.

As of 2025, Sellur K. Raju was still a prominent AIADMK leader and an active participant in political discussions in Tamil Nadu. He has been taking part in public events and planning for the party.
