Sandeep Kumar Pathak

Dr. Sandeep Kumar Pathak is a politician from India who belongs to the Aam Aadmi Party and has been serving as a member of the Rajya Sabha from Punjab since April 2022. Before entering politics, he worked as a teacher at IIT Delhi and also did research at the University of Oxford and MIT.

He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2022 to represent Punjab for the Aam Aadmi Party (APP). Currently, he is a National General Secretary Organisation for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

He was born in Bataha village in Mungeli, Chhattisgarh on 4th October 1979, to parents who were farmers. His father's name is Kumar Pathak and mother is Prabha Pathak. He married Tejus Pathak.

He went to school in his village up to the sixth grade and then moved to Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, to live with his aunt and continue his education. After completing his master's degree in Chhattisgarh, he pursued further studies at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology in Hyderabad and the National Chemical Laboratory in Pune.

Later, he went to the University of Cambridge to earn a PhD focusing on high-temperature superconducting materials. After that, he worked as a research associate at the University of Oxford and MIT.

As a distinguished professor at IIT-Delhi, he applied his expertise in scientific inquiry to both research and education. With a background in rigorous scientific training, he has made significant contributions to his field, evidenced by his impressive publication record. His work has been recognised internationally, with over 100 research articles published in reputable journals. Notably, his research has garnered over 11,348 citations, reflecting the impact and influence of his contributions. His academic prowess is further underscored by his H-index of 32, indicative of the breadth and depth of his scholarly output.
