Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti was born on March 1, 1967, in Patewra village, Hamirpur district, to Achyutanand and Shiv Kali Devi.
In 2014 and 2019, she secured victory as a Member of Parliament representing the Fatehpur Lok Sabha seat under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) banner. The ruling party has once again nominated her for the same seat in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Currently, she holds the position of Union Minister of State in both the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, as well as the Ministry of Rural Development. She previously served as Minister of State for Food Processing Industries in 2014.
She hails from a Nishad-caste family, classified under the Other Backward Community. With a constituency boasting over 18.2 lakh voters, a significant majority belonging to backward castes, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti has played a pivotal role in attracting OBC and SC voters.
Her efforts extend to promoting afforestation for environmental protection, advocating for the welfare of cows, and supporting social and cultural values. Additionally, she actively contributes to facilitating marriages for underprivileged girls.
Outside of her political commitments, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti nurtures a profound interest in religious literature, regularly delving into texts such as Shrimad Bhagwat, Shri Ram Katha, Gita, and Upanishads, alongside engaging in pilgrimages and religious hymns.
In her leisure time, she finds solace in gardening, participating in religious and cultural events, reading biographies and autobiographies of social and political leaders, as well as practising yoga and meditation.
