Rajesh Ram was brought up by Mohar Ram in a village in Bihar. He went on with his education and got his graduation degree from B.R.A. Bihar University (via G.M.H.P. Mahavidyalaya) in 1994. Later, he started farming, trading, and doing social work. His varied professional roots have given him a mix of on-the-ground and managerial-level understandings.
After a long time of political experience, Rajesh Ram joined the Indian National Congress party, and in 2020, he ran for the election in the West Champaran district (Ramnagar SC constituency). His 2020 election affidavit showed that he had around ₹3.46 crore of assets and ₹49 lakh of debt.
His occupational persona as a farmer-businessman-social worker is instrumental in him getting the rural as well as the business community's interests.
In November 2025, Rajesh Ram ran for the Kutumba Assembly seat on an Indian National Congress ticket but was defeated
