Prajwal Revanna Biography

Prajwal Revanna, born on August 5, 1990, in Bengaluru Urban, Karnataka, is the son of former Cabinet Minister H.D Revanna and the grandson of Deve Gowda. After completing his BE, Prajwal embarked on a journey into the political arena. In 2015, he was selected as one of the 10 promising young politicians in India by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), UK, offering him exposure to the British governance system.

Despite being a member of the Janta Dal (Secular), Prajwal faced a setback in 2018 when his uncle, H.D Kumaraswamy, denied him a ticket in the elections, leading to a familial dispute. However, undeterred by this setback, Prajwal remained resilient and engaged in political activities in Hassan. In 2019, his perseverance bore fruit as he contested and won the Hassan Lok Sabha seat, previously held by Deve Gowda.

The complaint of sexual assault was filed by a 47-year-old woman against both Prajwal Revanna and his father, HD Revanna, a former minister. The woman, a domestic worker, accused both father and son of sexual assault. Following this, he was suspended from the JD(S) on May 30, 2024. Additionally, in fresh case, Prajwal is booked for repeatedly raping former maid in her 60s.

He has fled to Germany on a diplomatic passport. He was expected to return to Bengaluru on May 15 but at the last moment, he cancelled his flight. Finally, he lands in Bengaluru and is arrested by the Special Investigation Team in this case.
