P. A. Mohammed Riyas is an Indian politician from Kerala and a senior leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)). He represents the Beypore constituency in the Kerala Legislative Assembly and serves as the Minister for Public Works and Tourism in the Government of Kerala under the Left Democratic Front (LDF).

Riyas began his political career in student and youth organizations affiliated with CPI(M) and has been active in both party and legislative activities for decades. Known for his administrative skills and policy initiatives, he has focused on infrastructure development, tourism promotion, and public welfare.

As of 2026, he continues to serve as MLA from Beypore and as a Cabinet Minister.

P. A. Mohammed Riyas is a politician from the state of Kerala, India, a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and the All India President of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI). He completed his schooling from St. Joseph Boys High School, Kozhikode and joined Farook College, Kozhikode for his pre-degree education. He continued in the same college for his under-graduate degree in Bachelor of Commerce. Later he secured a law degree from Government Law College, Kozhikode.

During his school days in St Joseph Boys High School, Kozhikode Mohammed Riyas was active with Students' Federation of India (SFI). In his 8th standard, he became the President of the SFI unit committee, and in the next year, he got as the unit secretary of the school committee. In his pre-degree days in Farook College, Calicut he was elected as the first year pre-degree representative of the college. In 1994 Riyas became the unit president of SFI committee in Farook College, and in the next conference he became the secretary of the unit. From Farook college, he won the post for university union councillor of Calicut University in 1996-97. Later he became a university union office-bearer in 1998.

Riyas gradually became a prominent leadership of SFI. He holds a very strong political background. His father is a retired IPS Officer. Riyas is very much influenced from his father and career. His uncle P. K. Moideenkutty worked on the position of President in Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee.During the 2009 Indian general election, Riyas was the Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate for Kozhikode. M. K. Raghavan won the constituency with a margin of 838 votes. In 2021, He was elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly from Beypore constituency of Kozhikode district and inducted as a minister into the new cabinet of Pinarayi Vijayan led LDF government.

As of 2026, P. A. Mohammed Riyas continues to serve as the MLA from Beypore constituency and as the Minister for Public Works and Tourism in the Kerala government, actively engaged in both legislative and administrative responsibilities.
