Lurinjyoti Gogoi

Lurinjyoti Gogoi was born in Assam and has been actively involved in public life through student activism and regional political movements. He rose to prominence as a leader in the All Assam Students' Union (AASU), where he played a key role in issues concerning regional identity and citizenship.

He served as the General Secretary of AASU, becoming one of the prominent faces during the anti-CAA protests in Assam. His leadership during this period brought him significant public recognition and positioned him as an emerging regional political figure.

In 2020, he became one of the founding leaders of the Assam Jatiya Parishad, a regional political party formed out of the Assam movement leadership. He later assumed the role of party president, strengthening its organisational base across the state.

He contested the 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly elections, marking his formal entry into electoral politics, although he did not secure a win. Despite this, he continued to expand the party’s presence and influence in Assam politics.

His political focus has remained centred on regional identity, governance, and socio-political issues affecting Assam. He continues to be an active voice in state-level political discourse.

As of Mar 2026, Lurinjyoti Gogoi is contesting the upcoming Assam Assembly election, continuing his leadership role and political engagement in the state.
