Sri L. Nagendra was born in Karnataka on 16 April 1964 and belongs to a family with local ties. He did his school education in Mysore and later invented a business for himself while involving himself in politics during his early days. He gradually moved from civic politics to legislative politics, through which he managed to be in contact with city residents in Mysuru for a considerable period.
Nagendra started his public career as a Corporator, where he paid attention to urban civic problems and community service. His power was then amplified when he was named the Chairman of the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA), a significant urban planning organization, where he could learn about administering and become acceptable to the city's people.
In the year 2018, Nagendra reached a pivotal point when he got elected to the Chamaraja Assembly constituency seat as a candidate of the BJP party after beating the incumbent with a large margin. His issues were mainly local infrastructure, urban development, and community programmes. He represented the urban Mysuru electorate in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly until 2023.
He was defeated in the 2023 Assembly election by an Indian National Congress candidate but remained politically active as the President of the BJP Mysuru City, where he concentrated on building the party's organizational structure at the grassroots level and also participated in civic protests and campaigns in the area along with the party.
By 2025, L. Nagendra had still retained his status as a notable BJP leader in Mysuru politics, taking part in every aspect of the local political debate, party strategy, and public advocacy, which included preparing for the next elections and holding internal party discussions over candidates’ selection.
