Krishna Byre Gowda is an Indian Politician and current Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee in the Karnataka Legislature. He is also an MLA representing the Byatarayanapura constituency. On 20th May 2023, Byregowda was sworn in as the Revenue (excluding Muzarai) Minister under Siddaramaiah's cabinet.

Krishna​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ Byregowda is a politician from India who is a part of the Indian National Congress. He is the leader of the Indian National Congress and a senior politician from Karnataka. He is the representative of Vemgal Assembly constituency and is praiseworthy for his steadfast involvement in the organisation of the party, work of the legislature, and administration of the state at the level of the government. He has been a Cabinet Minister in the Government of Karnataka and in charge of several important portfolios for quite a while. As a matter of fact, he acts as a legislator who has been chosen by the people and is still alive with politics and organisation in ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌Karnataka.

Krishna Byregowda Biography

Krishna​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ Byregowda started his energetic political career in the year 2003 after the unfortunate passing of his father, C. Byre Gowda, who was a senior leader of Janata Dal (United). Later on, he joined the Indian National Congress, and Indian politics made his next career move to the local level.

He won the election as a Member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from the Vemgal constituency in 2008. After that, he was in charge of the deputation of Vemgal for two consecutive periods: from 2008 to 2013 and from 2013 to 2018, to which he extended his qualification as an experienced and knowledgeable representative in parliamentary procedure and lawmaking.

While in office, Krishna Byregowda gained a place in the Karnataka Cabinet, where he took charge of the Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs. On top of that, he was accountable for Parliamentary Affairs as well, where he mainly focused on legislative coordination and Assembly management.

He changed his constituency in 2018 and got elected as MLA from Byatarayanapura. This was the first time he had a different constituency, and the political career of a new phase was marked. He won the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections from Byatarayanapura for a second term and got 54.43 percent of the vote share.

In 2022, he was given the position of chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee of the Karnataka Legislature. This is an important oversight Committee, which is the main responsibility to scrutinize public expenditure and the financial accountability of the government.

As of 2025, Byregowda is still the MLA of Byatarayanapura, and the chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee, and he is willingly engaged in legislative oversight, Assembly proceedings, and Indian National Congress organisational activities in the Karnataka ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌region.
