Harsimrat Kaur Badal is the Union Cabinet Minister of Food Processing in the Government of India and member of parliament from Bathinda. She belongs to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). Harsimrat Kaur Badal is from a Political background. Her husband Sukhbir Singh Badal was the deputy chief minister of Punjab and the president of Shiromani Akali Dal. She was born in Delhi on July 25, 1966, in Majithia family to Satyajit and Sukhmanjus Majithia. Harsimrat Kaur Badal did her schooling from Loreto convent school, New Delhi. She is a matriculate and holds a diploma in textile design. She got married to 21 November 1991 to Sukhbir Singh Badal. Harsimrat Kaur Badal went onto work as a business person in the buying company.

During her tenure as Food Processing minister, her ministry showed tremendous growth. From September 2015 to June 2016, 24,084 persons were trained in food processing sector. She piloted the 100% FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) into Multi Brand Retail of Swadeshi Food produced and manufactured in India as one of the major steps along with the creation of huge capacity by way of 37 Mega Food Parks (8 operationalised by June 2016) and 134 Cold Chain projects.
