Harshwardhan Chauhan won the Karnataka legislative assembly elections two times from Shillai constituency. In 2022 assembly elections, he bagged highest number of votes - 32,093 as a candidate of INC. He also holds the portfolios of Parliamentary affairs, Industries Minister and AYUSH as the state cabinet minister since January 8, 2023.
Before that, he was elected from the same constituency from 1993 to 2012. Chauhan started politics actively from 1993, then he won the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly election back-to-back in several terms. But in 2012, he was defeated by Baldev Singh Tomar. Subsequently, in 2017, he was again elected to the thirteenth Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
On the personal front, Harshwardhan Chauhan was born on September 14, 1964, in Nahan. He is the son of former minister of HP government, Guman Singh Chauhan.
