Gourav Vallabh, a prominent figure in Indian politics and academia, was born in Ranchi, Jharkhand, in 1977. Hailing from an academic background, he pursued his education diligently. Graduating in Bachelor of Commerce and later securing a Gold Medal in Master of Commerce, both from Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University in Ajmer, he demonstrated exceptional academic prowess.
Furthering his qualifications, Gourav attained his Chartered Accountant degree from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in 2004. He pursued his passion for teaching by embarking on an academic career, teaching finance at institutions like Marwar College, XLRI, and others. His journey culminated in a Doctorate in Financial Statement Analysis for Credit Decisions from the University of Rajasthan in Jaipur.
Gourav's professional journey extended beyond academia into the banking sector, where he made significant contributions. His consultancy projects, including those for the Reserve Bank of India and various public sector banks, showcased his expertise in risk management and financial analysis.
In 2017, Gourav made a foray into politics, joining the Indian National Congress. Quickly rising through the ranks, he became a spokesperson for the party, engaging in debates and representing party viewpoints in the media. Despite an unsuccessful bid in the Jharkhand general elections of 2019, Gourav continues to be a prominent voice in political discourse.
However, he resigned from the Congress party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, due to discomfort with its directionless approach and inability to align with his values of not promoting anti-Sanatana sentiments or vilifying wealth creators.
Outside of his professional endeavours, Gourav finds joy in family life. He is married to Priyanka Vallabh, an assistant professor, and together they have a daughter named Aanya Vallabh.
