Gali Janardhana Reddy was the eldest son born to Rukminamma and Chenga Reddy, a police constable in Ballari (then Mysuru State, now Karnataka) on the 11th of January 1967. Reddy and his siblings were from a family that originally belonged to the Chittoor district of present-day Andhra Pradesh. The pre-university education was finished by Reddy, and he later started venturing into business before customizing his path to politics.
Initially, Reddy came into the political scene as an active official with the BJP in the Bellari constituency area and all around the Kalyana Karnataka region. His nomination as a Member of the Karnataka Legislative Council in 2006 marked his formal entry into state legislative politics.
In 2008, Reddy won the Karnataka Assembly elections, and after the completion of his Ministerial post in Tourism and Infrastructure Development in Karnataka, Reddy was part of the BJP state government, which was ruling from 2008 to 2011. His period was the time when the party was in a position to create its own government in the state for the first time by using only its strength.
Reddy withdrew from the active political scene for a while, but he then decided to set up his new regional party, Kalyana Rajya Pragathi Paksha (KRPP), on the 25th of December 2022, and the party would aim at the overall development of the Kalyana Karnataka region. He ran for the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections from the Gangawati constituency as a KRPP candidate, and he got elected, thereby making his way back to the state legislature.
On the 25th of March, 2024, Reddy merged KRPP with the Bharatiya Janata Party, hence re-aligning with the BJP before the national elections, which is the reason why he has done it that way.
He has also been the person behind social service initiatives, among them he has been operating a school for mentally disabled children since 1997 and an old age home from 2004, which are running entirely on his own resources.
