Col Sona Ram is Prominent Politician having his own aura in Rajasthan Political sphere. Born in Sri Mohangarh Distt. Jaisalmer (Rajasthan) in a Hindu Jat family, he is a keen agriculturist. He graduated in B.E., Fellow (F.I.E.) from M.B.M. Engineering College, Jodhpur (Rajasthan) and Institute of Engineers (India).He passed out from the Indian Military in 1966 and joined the Indian army. In his 25 years of tenure as Army officer, he decorated many positions and served for the country. He also served in 1971 war in Eastern Front.
In order to serve poor and downtrodden people of India, he took voluntary retirement in 1994 and joined politics. His political career started when he became a member of parliament in 1996 and he was re-elected 3 more times to Lokasabha. He also served as a member of Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha from 2008-2013. In 2014, he contested to 16th lokasabha from BJP party and elected to the parliament for the 4th time.

After voluntary retirement from Armed Forces in 1994, serving nation with dedication for 25 years as MP Lok Sabha (4 Times) and MLA (1 Time) from Western Distt. Of Rajasthan.
