Charan Boro was born on 1 July 1979 in Udalguri district, Assam. He emerged from the socio-political landscape of the Bodoland region and became associated with public issues concerning rural development, tribal welfare, and political representation. His early rise in politics was shaped by his close connection with local communities and constituency-level activism.
He entered active politics through the Bodoland People's Front, one of the most prominent regional parties representing Bodo interests in Assam. As the BPF expanded its influence in state politics, Charan Boro became one of its important emerging leaders in Udalguri district and surrounding areas. His organisational work and local outreach helped strengthen the party’s grassroots presence.
His first major electoral breakthrough came in 2016 when he was elected MLA from Majbat. He retained the constituency in 2021, consolidating his reputation as a dependable regional leader. Across his legislative tenure, he focused on roads, connectivity, welfare delivery, and development concerns affecting interior and border-adjacent areas of the Bodoland region.
In October 2025, Charan Boro was inducted into the Assam Cabinet under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He was given charge of the Transport Department and Welfare of Bodoland, reflecting his growing political stature and the strategic importance of BPF in state coalition politics.
In the 2026 Assam Assembly election, he was re-elected from Mazbat, securing 84,718 votes and defeating his nearest rival by 55,546 votes, reaffirming his stronghold in the constituency and his continuing relevance in Bodoland politics.
On 12 May 2026, Charan Boro was sworn in as a Cabinet Minister in the Assam government, marking a major milestone in his political career.
