On 7 July 2021, he was inducted into the Union Council of Ministers as Minister of State for Tribal Affairs and Minister of State for Jal Shakti in the Narendra Modi government. His appointment brought him into national executive office and strengthened his profile as a tribal leader from Odisha.
He served in these ministerial roles until June 2024, after which he completed his Lok Sabha tenure. During his public career, he remained engaged in tribal welfare issues, constituency outreach, and party activities in Odisha.
