Ashish Butail

Ashish Butail is an Indian National Congress party politician. He is the current MLA from Palampur constituency. He entered into politics by joining the Indian Youth Congress, the youth wing of the INC political party. Regarding personal information, politician Ashish Butain was born on January 9, 1980, in Bundla, Palampur. He is the son of Shri. Brij Behari Lal Butail and Smt. Beena Butail. He completed schooling from Bishop CottonAshish​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ Butail is a Himachal Pradesh Congress leader and has represented the Palampur constituency as an MLA for two consecutive terms. Being born in the Butail family, he is the son of senior Congress leader and former Speaker BBL Butail – a heritage that helped him get an early insight into governance and political accountability. Before his political career, he was engaged in organisational and administrative work, and thus he had some experience which he later used for better management and development of his constituency.

By accepting various important roles in the Congress, such as Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee and district-level coordinator in Kangra, Butail moved up the party hierarchy. The work he did in election management, cadre mobilisation, and youth outreach made him one of the most reliable young leaders of the Congress party. He is of a down-to-earth nature and, hence, he has been going to the grassroots level and having interaction with local community, civil society groups, and educational institutions in Palampur.

Butail had been elected as a member of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 2017 and again in 2022. Since then, he has been focusing on various issues like building and strengthening urban infrastructures, adding to road connectivity, solving water-supply problems, as well as promoting education, environment, and tourism areas of Palampur. The way he has done his work for the people of his constituency is a good mixture of the modern development needs and the regional priorities, of which he is quite aware; thus, he has become a leader who is accessible to the vast majority of people and has strong support among them at the grassroots level.

As the state party Congress's main face and one of the leading figures amongst the emerging ones, Ashish Butail is still very much involved in legislative issues, organisational management, and policy debates. He is being credited for his gradual ascent, which is a political legacy along with his personal drive and commitment to the development of ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌Palampur, Shimla, and he pursued B.Com from Symbiosis International University. Ashish Butail married Kanika Butail in the year 2009, and the couple is blessed with a daughter.
