Alok Soren

Alok‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Soren is an Indian politician from the state of Jharkhand and the senior leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. He is the MLA from the Shikaripara constituency and has also served as a Cabinet Minister in the Jharkhand government.

As a leader with a devoted tribal following, he directs most of his attention to the issues of rural development, agriculture, and the upliftment of the tribal ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌communities.

Alok Soren Biography

Alok‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Soren was born in 1976 in the district of Dumka, Jharkhand. He is a tribal Santhal, and as a result, he has been very much involved with the movements for the rights of the land, for the welfare of the tribal, and for governance, which is of the rural kind. His political training happened in the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha organisational set-up.

Before committing himself fully to electoral politics, he was actively involved with JMM at the local and district levels. He achieved this through constant interaction with the village councils, farmers' groups, and tribal organisations to have an extensive support network in the area of Shikaripara.

After winning the 2019 Assembly election from Shikaripara, Alok Soren became a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. Cabinet minister, he was after the JMM government led by Hemant Soren came into power, and he was given charge of the state animal husbandry, fisheries, and cooperative development departments.

In the 2024 Jharkhand Assembly election, he not only continued to represent the Shikaripara constituency but also consolidated himself as one of the main influential local leaders of the party. He is still an MLA and Cabinet Minister in the Jharkhand government until ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌2025.
