Kalpana Soren

Kalpana​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ Soren was born in 1986 and has an engineering degree. For the most part, she was not involved in politics and chose to work in the private sector until she made her debut in public life. However, she was known in the public primarily as the wife of the Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

In 2024, her political career was a short story of amazing events when, after his arrest in a money-laundering case linked to an alleged land scam, Hemant Soren resigned as Chief Minister. Kalpana Soren took this politically sensitive period as an opportunity to enter political life. She communicated actively with party workers, led public meetings, and was visibly present as a campaigner for the alliance led by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.

First, she ran for office in the 2024 Gandey Assembly by-election on the JMM ticket and won with a large margin, thus officially becoming a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. Her victory was, and still is, interpreted as the political power firming up of the Soren family in the area.

Kalpana Soren is still the MLA from Gandey and an active member of the JMM in the Giridih district and the neighboring areas, as of ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌2025.
