Varun Chaudhary was born on 23 March 1980 in Ambala, Haryana, to Phool Chand Mullana and Pushpa Devi, both of whom have been socially active in regional circles. He pursued legal studies and completed his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi in 2006, grounding his early career in law and public service.
He began his formal political journey within the Indian National Congress and entered electoral politics in the 2019 Haryana Legislative Assembly election. Contesting from the Mulana (SC) Assembly constituency, he won and succeeded Santosh Chauhan Sarwan, marking his transition from a professional background to active public representation at the state level.
During his first term as MLA (2019–2024), Chaudhary participated in Assembly debates and developmental consultations, with recognition for his legislative engagement and consistency. In March 2021, he was also honoured with the Best Legislator Award for his contributions to Assembly proceedings and state governance.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Varun Chaudhary contested from the Ambala (SC) parliamentary constituency and was elected as a Member of Parliament in the 18th Lok Sabha on an Indian National Congress ticket. He won the seat by a clear margin over his nearest rival, ending a long-standing hold of the seat by the previous party.
Since June 2024, Chaudhary has served as a Member of Parliament from Ambala, engaging in national legislative discourse and constituency outreach. In addition to parliamentary duties, he continues to maintain close engagement with public issues and development priorities in his region.
As of 2026, he remains an active parliamentarian working on legislative participation and constituency representation.
