Thanneeru​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ Harish Rao is an Indian politician of Telangana and one of the major leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi. He has been the MLA of Siddipet Assembly constituency since 2004 and is popularly known for his extended legislative term and his huge ministerial experience.

Harish Rao has been the face of the state government with the departments of Irrigation, Legislative Affairs, Finance, and Health. As of 2025, he remains vigorously engaged in the public service, lawmaking, and party management in ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌Telangana.

Thanneeru Harish Rao Biography

Thanneeru​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ Harish Rao came into this world on 3rd June 1972 in Thotapalli village of the then Karimnagar district (now Siddipet district) in Telangana. He pursued his studies and graduated from Kakatiya University. Right after Harish Rao completed his education, he started his career in politics. Harish Rao is the one who fits the portrait of a person coming from a family of those who serve the public, which he was influenced by during his childhood in a rural area, and it was this that conditioned him to know the needs and governance of the community.

In 2004, Harish Rao made his debut in the legislative assembly when he won the Siddipet constituency election, and thus was made the Member of the Legislative Assembly representing Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (TRS at that time). Continuously elected to this office, he managed to keep this parliamentary seat and hence turned out to be one of the longest-serving legislators of the state with his exceptional experience in lawmaking.

He had several ministerial positions in the Telangana state government, to which over the years he was appointed. He was the Minister for Irrigation, Marketing & Legislative Affairs from 2014 to 2018, and during that time, he was deeply involved in the coordination of infrastructure and legislative activities. As of 2019, he assumed the office of the Finance Minister, besides other roles, and later he was allowed to take care of the Health, Medical, and Family Welfare Department as well.

It is worth noting that accessibility to the constituents and being active in legislative affairs have been some of the attributes by which Harish Rao has always been recognised. He is still the MLA of Siddipet as of 2025, and he doesn't stop working on constituency development, public policy debates, and party organisation-related activities of the Bharat Rashtra ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌Samithi.
