An Indian politician and Union Minister of State for Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ramesh Jigajinagi is also a member of the Twelfth, Thirteenth, Fourteenth, Fifteenth and Sixteenth Lok Sabha having won five consecutive elections since 1998. He was a former police officer and also a musician enlists his Lok Sabha profile. He is also an ardent advocate for Dalit rights. He was the sitting MP of Chikkodi constituency for three terms and presently serving his second term a the MP of Bijapur constituency. He was affiliated with Janata Dal until the demise of his mentor Ramakrishna Hegde. He later aligned his interests with BJP. Prior to his unthwarted victory in Lok Sabha elections, he served as the MLA of Ballolli for three terms.
