Priya Krishna won as MLA at a very young age from Govindraj Nagar constituency in 2009. And interestingly, he became the youngest MLA at age 25, who is also the elder son of Karnataka ex-minister, M. Krishnappa. In the 2023 assembly election, he got re-elected from Govindraj constituency by bagging over 50.87 per cent of votes.
If we look back to his history, Priya Krishna was an active member of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Party while entering politics in 2003. Thereafter, he won the by-election as MLA represented the Govindraj Nagar elections in 2009. During 2013 general elections, he won again with 42,460 votes, securing 55.36% of the total. Later on, he grabbed the richest candidate position in the fray during 2018 assembly elections
with a personal wealth of over ₹1,020 crore. Notably, the INC MLA also declared as the top one candidate with highest number of liabilities during the 2023 assembly elections.
