Prafull Kumar Manjhi is a leader who deeply cares for and is dedicated to the welfare of the people in the Jamui district of Bihar. He is known for his commitment to improving the lives of people and fostering development from the grassroots level. Prafull Kumar was born in Lakhisarai. He graduated from Shree Karynand Sharma Smarak College, which is affiliated with Bhagalpur University. Combating the issues of the marginalized and Scheduled Caste communities in rural Bihar was the reason why he got involved in the political arena in his early days.
He came into politics with the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), which was headed by ex-Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi. Prafull Kumar Manjhi secured a win in Sikandra (SC) constituency in the 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. He defeated Congress candidate Sudhir Kumar by a little more than 5,000 votes. It was a big win for the HAM(S) to establish its influence in the area.
As an MLA, Manjhi has been very committed to the revival of the education system and infrastructure and has also focused on employment generation in his constituency. People see him as a leader who is always in touch with the people and takes steps to provide equal access to government welfare schemes. Till now, 2025, he is still very much engaged in the political scenario of the state and with the activities of his party, HAM(S).
In November 2025, Praphull Kumar Manjhi of the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) won the Sikandra (SC) seat with 91,603 votes, surpassing his rival Uday Narain Choudhary by 23,907 votes, reinforcing his strong foothold in Jamui district.
