Nagendra Ray

Nagendra Ray, born on October 1st, 1958, in Gosanimari Cooch Behar, hails from the prestigious Chronological Royal Dynasty of Maharaja Narak. Maharaja Narak, whose lineage traces back to Lord Vishnu and Dharitri in ancient Mithilapur, was coronated at Pragiyotishpur Palace, now Maa Kamaksha Temple, atop Nilachal hill in Guwahati, Assam.

Continuing the legacy, Nagendra Ray is a descendant of Vaga Dutta, coronated by Lord Krishna, and Puspa Dutta. His paternal line extends through Umakanta to Maharaja Kanteswar, who ascended to the throne of Kamata Kingdom, with a coronation conducted by Kandura Adhikary.

Belonging to the lineage of Maharaja Kanteshwar, Nagendra Ray's father, Dev Kanta Gagendra Ray, fathered Maharaja Ananta Nagendra Ray, who was coronated in Gosanimari, Cooch Behar, on the auspicious day of Maghi Purnima in 1994. This dynastic succession has persisted through oral tradition since the era of Maharaja Kanteshwar.

In 2023, Nagendra Ray was elected to the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Beyond his political endeavours, he contributes to various publications such as Hindi Rashtriya Bhasha Prasar Samiti (Guwahati), Hindi Sentinel Patrika (Daily), and Hindi Poorvanchal Prahati (Guwahati). Additionally, he organises marriages for impoverished girls in Assam and West Bengal, personally funding these endeavours. He also shares his musical talents, specialising in Rajbanshi and Hindi music, and serves as a preacher in Hindu Dharma.

As an author, Nagendra Ray has penned several works, including "Kamata Kabya," "Yug Sandhikshan," "Adhikari Darshanjyoti" (bilingual), "Bhwaiya Sangeet," and "Kushan Gaan," all in Rajbanshi language.

Outside of his professional and literary pursuits, Nagendra Ray finds joy in sports, particularly Hadudu (Kabaddi) and football. On a personal note, he is married to Sabitri Ray and is blessed with two sons and one daughter. His net worth stands at Rs 1,96,14,965.
