Mukesh‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Sahani is a well-known Indian politician and the founder of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP). He was born on March 31, 1981, in Supaul Bazar, Darbhanga, Bihar. Mukesh Sahani, the "Son of Mallah", is from the Nishad (fisherfolk) community, and his political ideology and reach have been influenced by this community quite a lot.

When he was 19 years old, Sahani went to Mumbai, and there he was first a salesman for some time and later went to Bollywood as a set designer. For instance, he has done the sets for movies like Devdas and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. In 2010, he came back to Bihar and set up the Sahani Samaj Kalyan Sanstha, a charitable organization, to provide education and community development for the Nishad community. After that, in 2015, he formed the Nishad Vikas Sangh to facilitate the rights and welfare of the members of his community.
