Kiran Maheshwari

Smt Kiran Maheshwari is a prominent polirician and social worker from Rajasthan. She completed her education from Bombay University, Catering College, Dadar, Mumbai and IICT- Udaipur. She first spotted in political sphere when she participited in the Gangaajal Yatra of Vishva Hindu Parishad.She was just 24 then. When The Rama Janma Bhumi issue gain momentum in 1989,Maheshwari established herself in Konarkoli in the field of Mahila Jagrati and held the responsibility for systematic publicity. The Ayodhya car seva in 1992 and Delhi rally in 1993 showed her commitment in politics and She soon elected as Mayor of Udaipur in 1994. In the same year she established Women's Co-operative Bank for empowerment and upliftment of women and bank became the leading organization of women emancipation.
In 2004 defeating Congress leading woman Girija Vyas ,she was elected to the Lokasabha from Udaipur-Rajsamand constituency. Serving 4 years as a MP she resigned in 2008 to contest in State assembly election and subsequently elected to the Rajasthan State assembly. She was again elected as MLA in 2013 and was given the portfolio of Higher Education ministry.
Apart from politics, She was known for her social works. She played a leading role in various functions like Sarva Samaj Samuhik Vivah, Charbhuja Padyatra from Kankroli and, death sentence to be given for the perpetrator of rape and murder with the Masoom Balik.She is also a serving member in many organizations like All India Maheshwari Mahasabha, Vaishya Mahasammelan, Indian Lions Parisangh, Bharat Vikas Parishad, Mrigendra Bharati, Savarkar Smriti.
