Undeterred by the loss, he contested in the following election and won from Jahanabad. He launched the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party and successfully contested the 2014 elections and is the incumbent MP of Jahanabad.

He is the founder and head of Gyan Bharti Model Residential Complex school in Hisua, Nawada.
He contested and won the 16th Lok Sabha elections from Jahanabad by a margin of 42,340 votes.
He floated his own party called Rashtriya Lok Samta Party and became the president of the said party.
He contested and lost the parliamentary by-polls conducted in Nalanda to Ramswaroop Prasad of JDU. He contested the election as an independent candidate.
He contested and won the 13th Lok Sabha elections from Jahanabad despite facing defeat in the previous election. H contested the election as a JDU candidate and defeated his rival Surendra Prasad Yadav's bid to the seat.
Kumar was the member of Legislative Council and he retained the position for two terms.
