Conrad Kongkal Sangma


Conrad Kongkal Sangma is the son of the former chief minister of Meghalaya Mr P.A.Sangma. He became active in politics just after his completion of studies. He completed a bachelor's degree in business administration in entrepreneurial management from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his MBA in finance from Imperial College London. He started his political career by contesting in 2004 Assembly election but lost by a short margin of 182 votes. In next Assembly election held in 2008, he elected to assembly along with his brother. After the death of his father in 2016 march, he became the president of National's People's Party (NPP). Then he was elected to 16th Lokasabha from Tura constituency. In 2018 assembly election, his party won 19 seats and formed coalition govt with other small parties and Became the Chief Minister of Meghalaya. He also holds Finance Ministry portfolio in present government. He had a brother and two sisters. His brother James and sister Agatha are also politicians.
