Ashwini Kumar Choubey is the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and a member of the 17th Lok Sabha. He is an Indian politician belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is also the former health minister of Bihar. He contested and won the 17th Lok Sabha election from the Buxar constituency where he defeated Jagada Nand Singh of RJD by a margin of over 70,000 votes.

He was the President of the Student`s Union at Patna University (1978-79). He participated in the All India Student`s Union Leader Conference, Patna in 1979. He was a full-time Member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad from 1974 to 1987 and a member of the National Executive. He constructed 11 thousand toilets for Mahadalit families.
