Arjun Ram Meghwal

Arjun Ram Meghwal, a multifaceted Indian politician, was born on December 20, 1953, in Kishmidesar, nestled within the Thar Desert of Bikaner. His journey traverses through various roles including an IAS officer, social worker, farmer, educationist, and now, a prominent figure in Indian politics.

After a distinguished career in the Indian Administrative Service, Meghwal transitioned into politics, driven by a desire to contribute to the betterment of society. He holds a degree in Law and post-graduation in Arts, complementing his administrative acumen.

Meghwal's political career soared as he secured victories in consecutive Lok Sabha elections, representing the Bikaner constituency. His commitment to public service is evident through his initiatives aimed at the development of Rajasthan, particularly in advocating for the recognition of the Rajasthani language and promoting cultural heritage.

As the Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Law & Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Culture, Meghwal continues to champion initiatives that enrich India's diverse cultural tapestry. Notably, he has spearheaded discussions on critical issues such as the abolition of manual scavenging and advocating for Hindi arguments in higher courts.

He participated in numerous programs to develop the Rajasthani language, providing full cooperation in various roles to secure its recognition as an Indian language in the VIII Schedule of the Indian Constitution.

He initiated debates and discussions on abolishing manual scavenging in the country during the 15th Lok Sabha and vigorously raised this issue, marking the first time it was brought up in a Calling Attention motion.

He started debates on allowing lawyers to argue in Hindi in the High Courts and Supreme Court of India. Conducted various happiness programs to promote the Happiness Index in society.

Beyond politics and social work, Meghwal is deeply engaged in various pursuits that nurture his spiritual and personal growth. He actively participates in programs promoting happiness and wellness in society. His interests span from visiting religious sites to indulging in cultural activities like storytelling and bhajan singing.

Meghwal's commitment to social welfare extends to his role as a trustee of the Bhwana Meghwal Memorial Trust, dedicated to empowering economically disadvantaged students through scholarships and guidance programs. Additionally, he has facilitated group marriage programs for marginalized communities.

Outside the realm of public service, Meghwal finds solace in activities such as morning walks, yoga, and badminton. On a personal front, he married Pana Devi in 1968 and is blessed with two sons and two daughters with her. His net worth stands at Rs 3,76,54,863.
