Aaditya Thackeray, the grandson of the late Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray and son of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Bal Thackeray) leader Uddhav and Rashmi Thackeray. Notably, Aaditya Thackeray is also the nephew of MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
He entered the realm of politics in 2010. He as been serving role of president of Yuva Sena since 2010, a position from which he spearheaded the establishment of Yuva Sena units across several states, including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Bihar, and Jammu and Kashmir.
Moreover, Aaditya Thackeray has been involved in advocacy efforts, as demonstrated in 2010 when he led a book burning agitation against Rohinton Mistry’s 'Such a Long Journey,' opposing its inclusion in Mumbai University’s literature reading list.
In 2016, Aaditya Thackeray demonstrated his commitment to social issues by proposing to the then Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to extend the operating hours of restaurants and bars to remain open all night, in against the deadline of 1:30 AM.
In 2018, Aaditya Thackeray was appointed as the leader of Shiv Sena, marking a significant milestone in his political career. The following year, he announced his candidacy for the Worli assembly seat in the 2019 assembly elections, making him the first member of the Thackeray family to contest elections since Shalini Thackeray.
Beyond politics, Aaditya Thackeray is a multifaceted individual. He is a poet and lyricist, having published his first book of poems, 'My Thoughts in White and Black,' in 2007. Additionally, he released a private album titled 'Ummeed,' where he penned eight songs, showcasing his artistic talents.
