Born in a family with a strong political background, Abhay Singh Chautala forayed into politics by contesting the election for the membership of village Panchayat of Chautala. Chautala is the son of former chief minister Omprakash Chautala and grandson of Chaudhary Devi Lal, former deputy Prime Minister of India. Abhay Chautala tied the knot with Kanta and has two sons, Karan Singh Chautala and Arjun Singh Chautala. In 2000, he contested and won the state assembly elections from Rori Assembly Constituency. He went on to become the President of the Zila Parishad in Sirsa district during 2005. He further won the by-election from Ellanabad state assembly constituency in 2009. Not only in politics, he also shined in the sports world. He served as the President of Indian Olympic Association but was forced to resign in 2014 due to charges of corruption. Abhay Chautala was elected as the Leader of Opposition in the 13th Haryana Assembly. He is a no-nonsense youth leader who believes in hard and result-oriented work.
