Rohit Pawar was born on 29th September 1985 in Baramati. He is the grandson of Padmashree Dr. Appasaheb Pawar, an agriculturist who played a crucial role in improving the lives of farmers and rural communities.
His father, Rajendra Appasaheb Pawar, continued this legacy through the 'Agriculture Development Trust' and 'Baramati Agro Ltd,' earning the 'Maharashtra Krushi Ratna Award' for his contributions. His mother, Sunanda Pawar, is a successful businessperson and social activist, best known for founding the 'Bhimthadi Jatra,' which provides employment opportunities to women and Self-Help Groups.
He began his political journey by winning the Pune Zilla Parishad Elections in 2017 with a record number of votes. In 2019, he made history by defeating the BJP's Ram Shinde in the Karjat-Jamkhed Constituency, which had been a BJP stronghold for 25 years.
After his victory, he launched the 'Karjat-Jamkhed Integrated Development Foundation (KJIDF)' to address key development issues in the region.
Focused on youth development, Rohit established the Srujan Foundation, which hosts events such as the National-level Srujan Bhajan Competition, Durgaraj Fort Building Competitions, Maharashtra Kesari Bullock Cart Race, and cricket tournaments.
Rohit has been actively involved in campaigning for VidhanSabha, Zila Parishad, and Panchayat elections, earning recognition for Karjat-Jamkhed on the socio-political map of Maharashtra.
On a personal note, Rohit is a husband to economist Kunti Pawar and a father to Anandita and Shivansh. His net worth is Rs approximately Rs 106 Crore, and there is one criminal case filed against him.
He has dedicated his work as an MLA to studying socio-economic matters, which include rural development, water conservation, youth empowerment, and agricultural practices. He established the Karjat-Jamkhed Integrated Development Foundation (KJIDF) and the Srujan Foundation to address local developmental challenges and engage young people in cultural and sporting activities.
Pawar has also taken on leadership roles beyond electoral politics: he was elected unopposed as President of the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) in 2022, which demonstrated his active role in sports administration.
