He is the Minister of Power, Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare, Law (Parliamentary Affairs) and Election department since March 2023. Ratan Lal won the assembly elections several times from Mohanpur Constituency. However, he is currently affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party since 2017 after decided to leave Indian National Congress.
