Dr Rameshwar Oraon is an Indian politician. Born in 1947, he earned a BA Hons and MA in Economics from Ranchi University and PhD from Magadh University, Patna. He was an Indian Police Service officer. He left the illustrious career in 2004 to fight general election on Congress ticket and remained an MP from the Lohardagga seat until 2014 when he lost the seat to BJP. Dr Oraon fought 2014 Jharkhand assembly election from Lohardagga seat of Jharkhand state as a candidate of Indian National Congress party. In 2019 Jharkhand Assembly Elections he again fought on a congress ticket to win from Lohardagga seat. Dr Rameshwar Oraon has been sworn in as a cabinet minister in Hemant Soren led alliance government in Jharkhand.
