Raju Shetty Biography

Raju Shetty aka Devappa Anna Shett is the incumbent MP of Hatkanangle in Maharashtra. Shetty decided to venture out of Sharad Joshi's Shetkari Sanghatana (Farmer's Organization)- The party he had previous ties with- and contested the assembly elections as an independent candidate. In the ensuing years, he founded Swabhimani Paksha and contested the 2009 elections as an SP candidate. He won the election by defeating Mane Nivedita Sambhajirao's bid to the Hatkanangle seat. In 2014, his party forged an alliance with BJP to contest in the 16th Lok Sabha polls.

Political Timeline of Raju Shetty

• 2014 : He became a Member of Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas, Joint Committee on Salaries and Allowances of Members of Parliament and the Member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
• 2014 : Shetty earned himself a second term from Hatkanangle by defeating Awade Kallappa Baburao of INC. Prior to the 2014 general elections, his party formed an alliance with the BJP to encapsulate the vote share and mitigate failure in the elections.
• 2009 : Shetty was elected to 15th Lok Sabha elections from Hatkanangle where he defeated Mane Nivedita Sambhajirao by a margin of 95,060 votes. The same year he was appointed the leader of Swabhimani Paksha Parliamentary Party.
• 2003 : He contested and won the assembly elections from Shirol by defeating Magdum Vishwanath by a margin of 18,747 votes.
