O. S. Manian

O. S. Manian began his political career through grassroots involvement with the AIADMK, gradually rising within the party organisation through sustained local-level engagement and cadre mobilisation in Nagapattinam district. His early work focused on strengthening the party’s rural base and addressing agrarian and livelihood issues.

He was first elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Vedaranyam constituency and subsequently re-elected multiple times, establishing himself as a dependable electoral performer and experienced legislator. His repeated victories reflected strong constituency support and organisational strength.

During the AIADMK governments, Manian was inducted into the state cabinet and entrusted with several key portfolios. As Minister for Tourism and Milk & Dairy Development, he was involved in policy implementation related to infrastructure development and cooperative sector administration.

He later handled departments such as Handlooms, Textiles, and Cooperation, overseeing welfare schemes for weavers and cooperative institutions, particularly in rural and semi-urban regions of Tamil Nadu.

Following the 2021 Assembly elections, when the AIADMK moved to the opposition benches, Manian continued to serve as an experienced opposition MLA, participating in Assembly debates and party deliberations while maintaining close engagement with his constituency.

As of 2026, O. S. Manian remains active in Tamil Nadu politics as a senior AIADMK legislator and opposition leader, contributing his experience to party strategy and legislative oversight.
