Dr R Nataraj is an Indian politician who belongs to Anna Dravid Munetra Kazhagam. He was born to Ramchandran on 31 March 1951 in Chennai, then called Madras. He is an alumni of Presidency College Madras. He also have a bachelor of law degree and has earned his doctorate from Madras University.
Dr R Nataraj was a 1975 batch IPS know for his reforms that he brought in the policing and administrative system. He has also worked as the first secretary in Indian High Commission in Kathmandu, Nepal. In about four decades long IPS career Dr Natraj served the country in various capacity and finally attained his retirement from the post of Director General of Police in 2011.
Post his retirement from the Indian Police Service, Dr. Nataraj joined AIADMK in 2014. He contested his first election for Tamil Nadu state assembly in 2016 and won from Mylapore constituency.
