Michael Lobo

Despite his hectic schedule, Michael takes keen interest in Sports and Cultural activities.
He is a huge fan of Goa's ISL team FC Goa. He also supports local teams in different sports disciplines.
Michael is also a generous supporter of many cultural activities. People from various sections of the society come to him with their pleas and they never return empty handed.

• On 8 November 2015, Lobo tore down an illegal compound wall being constructed next to a resort in Calangute. The resort owner has also illegally filled up a lowlying paddy field adjacent to his resort near the Calangute church.

• Lobo contested on the BJP ticket from Calangute Vidhan Sabha constituency (constituency number eight) in the 2012 Goa legislative assembly election defeating Indian National Congress candidate and incumbent MLA for Calangute Agnelo Nicholas Fernandes by 1,875 votes.

• He campaigned for the party's candidates in Mangalore during the 2013 Karnataka legislative assembly election in April and May 2013, and met the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Mangalore Aloysius Paul D'Souza for his endorsement.He is a member of Estimates Committee and Budget Committee in the Government of Goa since 8 August 2013.

• In April 2013, he vehemently opposed the proposal for opening India's first Playboy Club at Candolim Beach, Candolim, and said the proposal was "tantamount to promoting prostitution".

• Also, he became the chairman of the North Goa Planning and Development Authority since 24 May 2012; the authority has jurisdiction over state capital Panaji and Mapusa.

• In the Same year, he became a member of the Sixth Legislative Assembly of the State of Goa when it was constituted on 7 March 2012.

• A turning point in the life of Michael Lobo was the Golden Youth Social Service Organisation of Goa which he founded and helped to promote at the age of 14. From then on, Michael began to actively help the needy.

• He supported his education by working as a dishwasher in a small bar in Panaji. His perseverance and hard work led him to be promoted as an Assistant Manager in the same restaurant.

Michael Lobo was the Secretary of Parra Citizens Forum.
He was appointed as North Goa BJP President and made the Chairman of North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA).
Under Michael's astute leadership, Calangute constituency has undergone a sea change including construction of Parking and entertainment zones, road expansion, sewearge network completion etc..
Michael Lobo also fought against starting of Playboy Club and also went for hunger strike thus forcing government to close down illegal night clubs and dance bars that had flourished due to nexus between some anti social elements
In 2016, Michael was conferred with the Ideal Youth Legislature Award (Yuva Vidhayak Puraskar) by Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad Foundation and MAEERs MIT School of Government Pune.
