Metbah Lyngdoh represented as the speaker and the MLA in Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. He is also the President of United Democratic Party after the demise of Donkupar Roy. He won the assembly election back-to-back three times representing Mairang constituency since 2008. Previously, Metbah also served as the Minister of Excise Registration Taxation Stamps, Home (Civil Defence and Home Guards), Tourism, Water Resources from 2018 to 2019.
