Dr. V. Sivadasan was born on May 4, 1979, in Vilakkode, Kannur, to K. Narayanan Nambiar and Velluva Madhavi Amma.
In April 2021, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha, beginning his political career at the national level. Before this, he served as a Director of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB).
Dr Sivadasan has been actively engaged in various legislative committees, including the Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Coir Board. He has contributed significantly to policymaking, serving as a Member of the Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
He holds several significant roles in various organisations. He serves as the Joint Secretary of the All India Agricultural Workers Union (AIAWU) and is a State Committee Member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala.
Furthermore, he actively contributes to academia, acting as the Convener of the Academic Committee for seminars on higher education challenges and prospects at Kannur University, Kerala, and the Acting Chairperson and Convener of the Academic Committee for the Young Scholars Congress in Thiruvananthapuram. Dr. Sivadasan is also involved in several scholarly associations, including the Centre for South Indian Studies and the Indian History Congress.
Additionally, he serves on the Editorial Board of Marxist Samvadam, a Malayalam quarterly journal in Thiruvananthapuram. His editorial contributions span various publications, including Researcher and Indian Researcher research journals, both in Thiruvananthapuram and New Delhi, as well as Student Struggle and Chatra Sangharsh monthly magazines in New Delhi.
Apart from his political endeavours, Dr. Sivadasan is a prolific author with notable publications such as "Peasants, Media, Literature: Agrarian Problems in Kerala: Role of the Media and Literature (1934-1971)", "Nilavilikalilodungathathe" (2003, Malayalam), and "Indian Vidhyabhyasam" (Malayalam).
His scholarly contributions extend beyond literature to critical analysis, as evidenced by his article "Neoliberal Hegemony in Education: Higher Education Policies in India" published in the International Journal of Social Science Research (Vol. 18). Dr. Sivadasan frequently shares his insights on national and international politics through articles in various journals and publications.
On a personal note, he is married to Shahna Valsan and has been blessed with two children.
