Dr Bhagwat Karad was born to Kishan Rao and Gayabai Kishanrao Karad in Chikhali on 16th July 1956. He married Anjali in 1981 and was blessed with three sons.
He was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra in 2020 as a Bharatiya Janata Party member.
As the Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, he oversees various financial matters crucial for the country's economic stability and growth. Additionally, he serves as a member of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Power and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Moreover, he is also a member of the Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas.
He is the owner of Dr. Karad Multi Specialty Hospital, a 50-bed hospital. In addition to this, he is a Chairperson of the Navketan Pharma Pvt. Ltd. Waluj, Aurangabad.
As a Director of Bhagwan Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Aurangabad, he oversees four colleges and four schools, along with the management of Y.S.K. Hospital, a 250-bed facility in Cidco, Aurangabad, and Dhanwantray Education, Aurangabad. Additionally, he serves as an Honourary Surgeon at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Aurangabad, contributes as an Examiner and Paper Setter for Maharashtra Health University, Nashik, and holds the esteemed position of Honourary Professor of Surgery at Bhagwan Homeopathy Medical College, Aurangabad.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he has organised a surgical camp for children, organised free seed distribution to poor farmers belonging to the Aurangabad district and provided food, sanitiser and transport to migrant labourers.
Apart from doing social work, he finds solace in listening to spiritual songs, 'bhajans.'
