Amit Malviya holds several key roles within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), serving as the national in-charge of the Information & Technology department, co-incharge for West Bengal, and a member of the national executive. Before delving into politics, Malviya had a background in banking. His interests lie in both politics and economics.

In 2015, Malviya moved to Delhi to lead the BJP's IT Cell. His involvement with the BJP started in 2009 when he helped start the "Friends of BJP" group. Along with others like Rajesh Jain and Piyush Goel, they started an SMS campaign to get more people involved. They asked people to join at www.friendsofbjp.org. They wanted to make the party more known and help it win elections in the then Lok Sabha elections.

1. In 2017, Amit Malviya faced criticism for sharing a collage of pictures of Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister, with various women on social media. Malviya was trying to discredit Nehru by comparing him to Hardik Patel, a political figure embroiled in controversy over a leaked sex tape. However, it was later clarified by a fact-checking news website, Alt News that most of the photos featured Nehru with his sister or niece.

2. In December 2019, Malviya posted a video on X alleging that protesters in Lucknow were chanting "Pakistan Zindabad" during an anti-CAA rally. Again, Alt News revealed that the chants were actually "Kashif Ahmad Zindabad." Kasihf Ahmad was a All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and was a leader of anti-CAA protest in Lucknow.

3. In the same month, Malviya claimed that students at Aligarh Muslim University were shouting anti-Hindu slogans during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
