Born in the holy city of India Tirupati in 1972, Roja is a well-known actress in southern India. She learned Kuchipudi after graduating from Padmavati Women`s University, Tirupati.
She made her breakthrough in the film industry through the `Prema Thapassu' movie opposite veteran Telugu actor Rajendra Prasad. Interestingly this film was shot in her birthplace Tirupati. Roja was introduced to Tamil film Industry by her husband, R.K. Selvamani, the then-popular film director.
She started her political career with TDP (Telugu Desam Party) and contested the 2004 and 2009 assembly elections from the Nagari constituency. She later joined the YSR (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu) congress party, subsequently contested from the same constituency, and tasted her first victory in 2014.
She is presently the President of the YSR party women's wing. She also holds the portfolio of the Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Youth Advancement in the government of Andhra Pradesh since 2022.
