K S Eshwarappa Biography

KS Eshwarappa is a senior BJP leader and politician in Karnataka. He is among the first-generation BJP leaders in the southern state. He hails from the powerful Kuruba community. He was nominated by his party to the Karnataka Legislative Council in 2014 and became the Leader of the Opposition in the council. He was pitted against Congress’ KB Prasanna Kumar and HN Niranjan of the JD(S). Eshwarappa is also the former Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council. Also, he had served as the deputy CM in the Jagadish Shettar era between 2012 and 2013.

  • Early 1960’s: When young Eshwarappa tried to go to work with his parents who worked worked in the Bhoopalam Areca Mandi as daily wage workers. His mother opposed the move and urged him to concentrate on his education and earn a good name in society. This inspiration that he got in his childhood, eventually led him to become a social worker.
