Dr. Amar Patnaik

Amar‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Patnaik, Ph.D., is an Indian politician and a member of the upper house of the Indian Parliament (Rajya Sabha) representing Odisha. He used to be an officer of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service and is now, by and large, credited as a one-man cabinet for his knowledge of governance, finance, and public policy.

After being a member of Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Dr. Patnaik changed his political allegiance to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2025; thus, his switch was the most important political shift in the parliamentary division of Odisha. Patnaik, on his part, said that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership that impressed him most and that he was changing parties only to serve the nation ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌better.

Educated at esteemed institutions including St. Stephen's College in Delhi University, Xavier Institute of Management in Bhubaneswar, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at Singapore University, John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, and Xavier University in Odisha, Dr. Patnaik holds a B.Sc. (Hons.), P.G.D.B.M., LL.B., Masters in Public Management, and a Ph.D.
