B. Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan was born on 1 August 1966 in Kolar, Karnataka into a family connected to the travel business. He began his political career after joining the Janata Dal (Secular) party which enabled him to win the Chamrajpet Assembly seat in 2005 when the sitting legislator left office which started his extended time in government service.
Zameer served multiple terms as an MLA under the JD(S) banner before joining the Indian National Congress in March 2018 along with several other JD(S) legislators which resulted in a stronger Congress presence throughout the state.
He has held important ministerial roles in Karnataka government since he worked as Minister for Food & Civil Supplies and Minority Welfare from 2018 until 2019 during the coalition government and he became Minister for Housing Waqf and Minority Welfare in the Siddaramaiah-led Congress cabinet which started on May 2023.
Zameer has worked on welfare projects through his current job which includes housing programs for people in need. In 2025 he denied wrongdoing about a housing scheme which he said would cost him his job if they proved him guilty while he rejected the claims because of their political nature.
His public statements in 2025, including remarks on national security and his willingness to "fight" Pakistan if necessary, received major media coverage along with public disputes.
Zameer Ahmed Khan continues to serve as MLA for Chamrajpet while he carries out his ministerial duties in the Karnataka government as of 2026.
