Karnataka Congress In-charge General Secretary K C Venugopal has brushed aside the possibility of Congress indulging in polarisation in poll-bound Karnataka.

Denying that the Congress in the state is indulging in polarisation in the Veerashaiva-Lingayat matter, Venugopal said that it was the BJP's ideology and not the Congress'

"I find such allegations baseless. The BJP will go to any extent to polarise and they are doing it already but the Congress has nothing to do with the Lingayat row. People have the right to ask for a separate identity. It is not our doing," he said.

The Congress in Karnataka is working on a 'cadre-wise' organisational set up ahead of the Karnataka assembly elections. With polls barely months away, state In-charge General Secretary K C Venugopal reviewed booth, block and district level organisational structure and work.

Venugopal spent two days reviewing the party's grassroots structure. Formation of booth, block and district committees was Congress' priority. "We will not have observers at all these levels to stop the BJP from polarising. Our government is already doing very well and now our organisation is also strong. We are confident that the party will return to power after the 2018 elections," K C Venugopal said.

Speaking on a host of issues like demonetisation, Gurmeet Ram Rahim, the safety of railway passengers, Venugopal urged that the government owed people of India an apology for all its failure.

Denying charges of his party milking the issue of Hindi imposition, Venugopal reiterated that no language should be imposed.

"I received a letter from the union government recently and it was in Hindi. So far, letters used to be in Hindi and English but now only Hindi. Why is one language being imposed? Any kind of imposition is wrong. Some people may prefer one language over another like I like Malayalam and you like Kannada but imposition is unacceptable," he said.

Adding that every minister in Chief minister Siddaramaiah cabinet will be reviewed for performance, Venugopal said that the focus will remain on grassroots level work and impact. Venugopal also approved the list of ministers who will be inducted into the Karnataka cabinet on Friday.
